Kepler’s Robert Conrad on How Optical Intersatellite Connectivity Could Support Warfighters

Robert Conrad, vice president of U.S. business development at Kepler Communications, told Breaking Defense in an interview published Monday that optical communications capabilities could help warfighters speed up the decision-making process to ensure national security by gaining access to remote sensing satellite data in near-real time.

BAE Awarded Air Force Contract for Insight System Integration Effort

BAE Systems has secured a six-year, $48.8 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to enhance a company-built system used to support real-world operations via analytics, open systems frameworks and enhanced capabilities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has begun seeking solicitations for a potential $499 million follow-on indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to research, integrate, develop and support the service branch's geospatial systems and services. A notice posted Friday on SAM.gov states that the GRIDS IV contract will have an ordering period of five years and covers the provision of technical expertise to help the Army Geospatial Center coordinate, integrate and synchronize geospatial data standards and requirements.
