BAE Systems' ordnance systems business unit has selected the U.S. defense subsidiary of South Korea-based Hanwha Aerospace to upgrade a production building at a government-owned ammunition manufacturing complex in Virginia. Hanwha Defense USA will help the U.S. Army modernize an existing Radford Army Ammunition Plant facility that manufactures propellants for the service branch, BAE said Thursday.

BAE Systems is poised to commence vehicle testing activities after delivering to the U.S. Marine Corps the first production representative test vehicle of the amphibious combat vehicle 30-millimeter cannon variant. The aerospace company said Thursday it will continue to collaborate with the service branch and the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering over the next 15 months to test and demonstrate the PRTV during a Fleet Marine Force event in southern California.

BAE Systems has concluded the critical design review of an advanced global positioning system receiver and next-generation semiconductor for the U.S. Space Force. The U.S. Navy awarded BAE Systems a five-year, $92 million follow-on contract for fleet services, software development and technical support to the branch's Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems Operations Onboard Navy Ship and Shore Based Sites. BAE's services are expected to benefit the air traffic control and landing systems of the Navy as well as the Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Military Sealift Command.
