Northrop Books DARPA Contract to Build AI-Enabled Tactical Autonomy Capabilities

Northrop Grumman has received a $28.9 million contract to help the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency develop tactical autonomy capabilities for multi-ship, beyond visual range defensive and offensive air combat missions. A notice posted on SAM.gov states that Northrop will build an AI air combat capability that could work with existing sensors, electronic warfare and weapons within dynamic and operationally representative environments.

Carahsoft’s Tim Boltz: Testing, Discretion Needed in Using AI Detection Tools in Education

Tools that detect content generated by artificial intelligence should first be tested by faculty and students before being deployed, according to Tim Boltz, education and market program executive at Carahsoft. Such tools and the generative AI technologies they are meant to police are still undergoing maturation, and a testing phase may be needed to help end users learn how to use them or decide whether to use them at all, Boltz said in a column posted on the Carahsoft website on Wednesday, where he tackled the themes and issues discussed at the latest EdTech Talks Summit.

Microsoft Federal’s Candice Ling: OpenAI Service Added to Azure Government

Microsoft has added its Azure OpenAI service to its Azure Government cloud services platform, said Candice Ling, Microsoft Federal's vice president of strategic missions and technologies and winner of the Wash100 Award. In an article posted Tuesday, Ling said the company intends to apply for FedRAMP High certification as well as Department of Defense Impact Level 4 and 5 authorizations for Azure OpenAI.

Lockheed-NVIDIA Earth Digital Twin Achieves Development Milestone, Displays Sea Surface Temperature Data

The Earth and Space Observing Digital Twin, a collaboration between aerospace and defense company Lockheed Martin and multinational technology company NVIDIA, recently achieved a milestone when it demonstrated the ability to accurately display in a timely manner sea surface temperature with the help of artificial intelligence. Lockheed said Tuesday that the aim of the Digital Twin project is to provide the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration with a capability that can process and fuse weather data streams from various space and Earth sensors and display current global environmental conditions using that data.

Parsons Corporation has launched Cyberzcape Tracker, an artificial intelligence and machine learning-powered cybersecurity offering meant to protect critical infrastructure networks by combining passive monitoring and active threat neutralization capabilities.
