Apple is reportedly in discussion with Google to license and build the latter's Gemini engine, a set of generative artificial intelligence models, into new iPhone software features. The negotiations come as Apple prepares new generative AI capabilities for the next version of the iPhone operating system, iOS 18, including functions for writing essays and creating images based on simple prompts.

Carahsoft Technology can now distribute Dataminr’s product for the public sector to state and local governments as well as academic institutions via the National Association of State Procurement Officials’ ValuePoint Cloud Solutions contract. Steampunk has become a member of the NVIDIA Partner Network, a program designed to assist NVIDIA partners in expediting the delivery of artificial intelligence services to clients. As a solution advisor and consultant within the network, the Virginia-based company said Wednesday it will harness NVIDIA technologies such as graphics processing unit hardware, software development kits, pre-trained AI models and scaled inference platforms.

IBM has teamed up with NASA to build a suite of transformer architecture-based language models designed to give the scientific and academic community access to vast amounts of scientific knowledge and information. The IBM-NASA models were trained on 60 billion tokens from a collection of astrophysics, earth science, planetary science, heliophysics and biological and physical sciences data.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has chosen seven companies for the small business track of the Artificial Intelligence Cyber Challenge. The competing small businesses were evaluated by the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering and the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, DARPA said Monday.
