Hank Jackson, formerly an executive technology adviser at Edgewater Federal Solutions since 2021, has been promoted to chief operating officer at the Frederick, Maryland-based company. In a statement Tuesday, company CEO Dave Yockman, said, “[Jackson’s] ability to manage contracts, develop and forge relationships with key stakeholders, and drive exponential business growth make him an excellent choice to lead our client services and talent acquisition teams.”

Maxar Intelligence CEO Dan Smoot recently said that he is prioritizing the rollout of the WorldView Legion satellite constellation, which was supposed to begin launching in 2021. Legion is the next-generation imaging platform of Maxar Technologies, the parent organization of Maxar Intelligence, a division that specializes in satellite imagery. The constellation will comprise six satellites in all, with the first two set for launch in the next few weeks.

Google Cloud will offer its new courses and certifications in generative artificial intelligence, data analytics and cybersecurity to the Department of the Treasury's current and future workforce. Aerospace and defense company Mercury Systems has received a $31 million contract from L3Harris Technologies to support the Space Development Agency's Tranche 2 Tracking Layer. Mercury said Wednesday that under the contract, it will provide solid-state data recorders for the T2TL satellites that L3Harris had been tasked to develop for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.

Susanne Hake, general manager of the U.S. government business at Maxar Intelligence, said the company intends to expand this year its network of electro-optical imaging satellites to meet the data requirements of government and commercial customers. According to Hake, Maxar Intelligence intends to triple its capacity to gather 30-centimeter imagery and increase revisit rates to up to 15 times each day by launching two WorldView Legion satellites with a plan to deploy another four spacecraft this year.

HII's Mission Technologies division will conduct research, analyze and build capabilities for the Mk 41 and Mk 57 vertical launching systems on the U.S. Navy's surface ships under a potential five-year, $75 million task order. HII said Tuesday the task order was awarded through the Department of Defense's Information Analysis Center Multiple Award Contract.

Edgewater Federal Solutions has announced that Shaun Poulton will be its next chief technology officer and head the company’s technology innovation organization. Edgewater said Monday that in his new position, Poulton will work to drive growth and identify and deliver IT solutions to customers.

Aaron Jacob, head of accounting solutions at TaxBit, said new crypto asset accounting guidance from the Federal Accounting Standards Board is expected to encourage the adoption of digital assets as it provides more clarity on accounting, reporting and disclosure of such assets. Measuring and reporting digital assets at fair value can bring various benefits, such as greater transparency and insights to inform decision-making, provided that the calculations are made correctly, Jacob said in an opinion article published on Accounting Today.
