STRIKEWERX Picks 26 Finalists for Counter Drone Swarm Technology Development Competition

Air Force Global Strike Command innovation hub STRIKEWERX has selected 26 entities to aid the AFGSC Office of the Chief Scientist’s effort to research and develop technologies to defend mobile transport systems against swarming autonomous small unmanned aircraft systems. The finalists from 75 submissions for the Continental U.S. Mobile C-sUAS Swarm Defeat Challenge will have to pitch their solutions for countering small drones via a virtual showcase in November, STRIKEWERX said Thursday.

Boeing, ASTRO America Produce Apache Helicopter Rotor Using 3D Printing

Boeing and nonprofit manufacturing organization ASTRO America unveiled a 3D-printed main rotor link assembly for the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter. The main rotor system, which will be tested next spring, is the first component produced by the two companies using additive manufacturing equipment at Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois.

Akiak-NikSoft Joint Venture Secures $100M DHA Technology Life Cycle Support Contract

A joint venture between Akiak Technology and NikSoft Systems has secured a $99.9 million contract from the Defense Health Agency to provide technology life cycle support services to the DHA Solution Delivery Division Technology Support Branch. Akiak NS will provide assessment, planning and implementation support to the SDD in areas such as digital transformation, system life cycle management and operations support, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Northrop Grumman, L3Harris Accomplish Critical Design Review of Missile Warning Relay Station

Northrop Grumman and L3Harris Technologies completed a critical design review of a relay ground station for missile warning and tracking, which will be used by the U.S. Space Systems Command in the Pacific. Northrop said Thursday that it is developing Relay Ground Station-Asia under a contract with the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, which plans to replace its missile warning system by 2025.

Idemia to Support Service Members Transitioning to Civilian Work Under DOD Program; Patrick Clancey Quoted

The Department of Defense has authorized Idemia Identity and Security North America to provide training and job opportunities in engineering, information technology and other areas to transitioning U.S. military service members. Idemia said Thursday it will serve as an authorized organization under the Skillbridge Program and help U.S. military members find placement within the company based on their experience, availability and capacity to train during their final 180 days of active-duty service.

Space Systems Command Requests Information on MicroGEO Deployment Support Services Requirement

Space Systems Command is seeking information on a new program to develop and deploy small, highly maneuverable broadband satellites to geostationary orbit to provide space-based communications support to the Department of Defense. SSC's Commercial Satellite Communications Office is looking for potential industry sources to support the launch and maintenance efforts for a constellation of microsatellites operating in the GEO arc, according to a notice posted Wednesday on SAM.gov.
