The Space Systems Command has issued a request for information as part of a strategy to establish an integrated satellite network with space-based environmental monitoring capabilities that would provide terrestrial and space weather data to meet Department of Defense forecasting needs. The government is working to determine the ability of industry partners to deliver technological capabilities relevant to SBEM environmental parameters articulated under 2012 Joint Requirements Oversight Council Memo 091-12 and 2014 JROCM 092-14, according to the RFI posted Tuesday on SAM.gov.

The Air Force Materiel Command has issued a request for information for the follow-on to the North American Aerospace Defense Command Cheyenne Mountain Complex – Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment and Space Support Contract II, or NISSC II. The government intends to move the contract from a single engineering sustainment model to one "that supports tailored work efforts focused on software development, security, and operations; integration; and lifecycle sustainment," according to the RFI posted Tuesday on SAM.gov.

The Space Systems Command has selected BAE Systems for a prototyping effort intended to enhance the U.S. Space Force’s capacity to facilitate the rapid integration of next-generation assets as they come online. As part of the first phase of the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution Command and Control project, BAE said Wednesday it will develop a prototype ground system.

The U.S. Space Systems Command has chosen LeoLabs to join its Space Domain Awareness Tools Applications and Processing Lab, or TAP Lab, Apollo Accelerator program. Throughout the initiative’s three-month period, LeoLabs will be given scenarios focused on threat warning and assessment, allowing the company to evaluate and modify its space domain awareness-focused products, the organization announced from Menlo Park, California on Tuesday.

The Space Systems Command chose Northrop Grumman's Passive Refueling Module as the first preferred refueling standard for its satellites. Northrop said Monday that the system is a result of its agreement with SSC and the Defense Innovation Unit and is part of the Geosynchronous Auxiliary Support Tanker contract.

Kyounghoon Kang, a 15-year General Dynamics NASSCO veteran, has been named vice president of operations support at the San Diego, California-headquartered shipbuilding company, according to a recently published LinkedIn post.
