FY2025 Pentagon Budget May Indicate Serious DOD Interest in Commercial Satcom, Viasat’s Rebecca Cowen-Hirsch Says

According to Rebecca Cowen-Hirsch of Viasat, the commercial satellite communications industry views the inclusion of a $134 million line item for commercial satcom integration within the proposed fiscal year 2025 Pentagon budget as a positive development. Astrion-Fluor JV Books $3.7B Air Force Test Operations & Sustainment Contract; Fog Hahn Quoted

Beyond New Horizons, a joint venture between engineering consultancy business Astrion and engineering and construction company Fluor, has been awarded the Test Operations and Sustainment II contract by the U.S. Air Force. DIU Partners With 3 Companies to Develop Orbital Logistics Capabilities

Aerospace company Blue Origin is finalizing the development of the Dark-Sky-1 mission system, whose purpose is to demonstrate the mission operation and flight system capabilities of a heavy utility multi-orbit logistics vehicle. The work is being carried out under a contract between Blue Origin and the Defense Innovation Unit, which said Wednesday that it had also been working with two other companies — Space Logistics and SpaceBilt — to achieve logistics capabilities, like Dark-Sky-1, that would provide low-cost access to geostationary orbit and those beyond low Earth orbit.
