HII’s information technology consulting firm, in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard, has obtained a three-year authority to operate status for the service branch’s integrated data environment program. The company said Monday that Enlighten and the USCG have bolstered the SURVEYOR IDE to ensure the protection of sensitive Coast Guard operational data as well as enable streamlined data management and faster access to critical information.

HII has secured a $100 million cost-reimbursable modification to its contract with the U.S. Navy for the construction of the future USS Enterprise nuclear aircraft carrier. The Department of Defense said Thursday the company will establish a Nuclear Enterprise Workforce Special Incentive to facilitate the government's strategic co-investments in recruiting, training and retaining personnel involved in nuclear ship construction and repair activities.

HII has christened the U.S. Navy's third America-class amphibious assault ship, named after Bougainville Island in the Solomons in honor of a World War 2 campaign that dismantled the Japanese stronghold. Ellyn Dunford, wife of former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman and U.S. Marine Corps Commandant Joe Dunford Jr., sponsored the christening of USS Bougainville, the company said Saturday.

HII's mission technologies division has secured a three-year task order under the U.S. Air Force Analytical and Technical Services contract to help facilitate information sharing among the governments of the U.S., Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the U.K. The company said Tuesday it will work with General Dynamics' information technology division to provide email, phone, video and chat capabilities to the Five Eyes alliance under the Pegasus task order.

Retired British Army Brig. Gen. Paul Tennant has been appointed as corporate vice president of engagement and international government relations at HII. In his new role, Tennant will work with think tanks, professional organizations, federal entities, academia, consultancies and other groups to progress the company’s objectives, HII announced from Arlington, Virginia on Wednesday.

HII's Mission Technologies division has inaugurated a new facility in Syracuse, New York, that will specialize in engineering products for command, control, computers, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The new facility is in addition to the company's site in Rome, New York, and brings its total workforce in the state to 200 employees.
