The Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration is using the Department of Homeland Security's zero trust maturity model to organize its own cloud-based cybersecurity framework, said Gerald Caron, chief information officer of ITA. In an interview led by Matthew McFadden, vice president of cyber at General Dynamics Information Technology, Caron discussed the efforts of ITA to catch up with other agencies in terms of modernization efforts, and their implementation of zero trust architecture.

A General Dynamics subsidiary will work to modernize the Medicaid program of Alabama under a $63 million contract awarded by the state's Medicaid Agency. Christopher Brooks, a U.S. Air Force veteran, has been named vice president of enterprise information technology solutions for the air and space forces business area at General Dynamics' IT division, according to a recently published LinkedIn post. Brooks most recently served as chief of the Air Force's network integration division and head of the operations division at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

System High, a portfolio company of Enlightenment Capital, will provide integrated security support services to the Department of the Air Force under a subcontract from General Dynamics' information technology business unit. The company said Monday it will help the DAF secure mission-critical activities related to national security as part of the $4.5 billion Air Force Security Support Services multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract issued in February 2021.
