NASA plans to award Jacobs a six-month contract extension to continue providing maintenance, operations and engineering support services at Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. The Center Maintenance, Operations and Engineering contract extension will support research facilities operations for wind tunnels, laboratories and test stands; central utilities operations; technology development and administration; facility engineering; and research and institutional facility maintenance, according to a notice posted Thursday on SAM.gov.

GE Aerospace landed a potential five-year, $68.1 million cost-sharing contract to participate in NASA's Hybrid Thermally Efficient Core turbofan engine project. The agency announced Friday that GE Aerospace will cover at least half of the cost of HyTEC's Phase 2 Integrated Core Technology Demonstration program for the duration of the contract, which takes effect Feb. 15, 2024.

ASRC Federal will serve as a subcontractor to Space & Technology Solutions on the $719 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services III contract it had received from NASA earlier this year. ASRC Federal said Thursday that under the deal, two of its subsidiaries will provide hardware and software engineering services to help develop and validate technologies that would enable future NASA space and science missions, including those for the Joint Polar Satellite Systems and Exploration and In-Space Services programs.

SpaceX and SEOPS will launch small satellite missions under four task orders awarded by NASA under the Venture-Class Acquisition of Dedicated and Rideshare launch services contract. SpaceX received three of the four task orders and will provide launch services for the Total and Spectral Solar Irradiance Sensor-2 satellite as well as the Dione and ARCSTONE satellites under the CubeSat Launch Initiative, the space agency said Wednesday.

Ball Aerospace will manage a concept study for the NASA Explorers Program to understand the magnetism of the sun and how it affects space, Earth and other planets. The company said Tuesday the Chromospheric Magnetism Explorer mission concept would use a near ultraviolet spectropolarimeter to make novel observations of the solar magnetic field in the chromosphere to learn how magnetic energy buildup leads to solar flares and coronal mass ejections.

NASA has issued a solicitation for a follow-on contract to provide academic and university-based program and project support services to the Ames Research Center. A request for proposals published Wednesday on SAM.gov states that the NASA Academic Mission Services 2 contract will support the aeronautics and technology mission objectives of the Aeronautics Directorate and the Exploration Technology Directorate.
