The Commercial Space Office, or COMSO, is known as the direct link between the commercial space sector and the U.S. Space Force and is led by Col. Richard Kniseley, senior material leader and a two-decade Air Force service member.

Ellwood National Forge has secured a five-year, $49.7 million contract from the U.S. Army to assemble BLU-109 A(D-1)/B penetrator bomb bodies and MHU-212 B/E bomb pallets. The Department of Defense said Thursday the Pennsylvania-based steel company will manufacture the components until Feb. 15, 2029, for the U.S., its outlying areas, or Canada.

BAE Systems will equip the last four of the Air Force's 10 EA-37B aircraft with advanced electromagnetic warfare mission systems to boost their defenses against jamming attacks. The company said Tuesday the modernized EA-37B planes will replace the Air Force's fleet of 14 EC-130H aircraft that also carries the Compass Call electromagnetic warfare jamming platform.

Evolver, a Converged Security Solutions subsidiary, has launched a federal business focused on providing information technology transformation and cybersecurity platforms and services for government agencies, and has appointed business development executive Jamin Rogovoy as president of the new entity. Evolver Federal will provide cybersecurity, application development, enterprise infrastructure and cloud services for government clients, the parent company said Monday.

Jacobs and its subcontractors were instrumental in the Missile Defense Agency's flight demonstration of Ground-based Midcourse Defense Weapon System-12 interceptor against an intermediate-range ballistic missile. Jacobs, which leads the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions contract, said Wednesday that it deployed employees in different locations to provide IT services, connectivity and communications for the flight test.

Lumen Technologies has appointed artificial intelligence expert Satish Lakshmanan as its new chief product officer. The telecommunications company said Monday that Lakshmanan was previously part of Amazon Web Services, where he served as global leader for artificial intelligence services.

Vincent DiFronzo, senior vice president of the Air Force, DOD Agency, Combatant Command business unit at Science Applications International Corp., said there are five ways organizations can prioritize military veterans and their families and the first two are through corporate leadership and human resources programs. “Companies with the most successful veteran hiring initiatives and employee resource groups are those led by veterans or military family members themselves,” DiFronzo wrote in an opinion piece published Monday in Stars and Stripes.

Mitre has worked with Red Balloon Security and Narf Industries to develop a threat model designed to provide device manufacturers, asset owners, testing organizations and security researchers a knowledge base of cyberthreats to critical infrastructure embedded devices. The EMB3D Threat Model is a framework that provides security mechanisms meant to help device vendors mitigate cyberthreats, Mitre said Wednesday.
