Parsons has secured a potential three-year, $48 million task order to provide software development life cycle services for the U.S. Army's command and control applications. The task order was awarded under the Army's Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and has a one-year base period with two option years, Parsons said Thursday.

BlueHalo has expanded its national security offerings with the launch and demonstration of an integrated command and control system designed to support uncrewed airspace operations. The company said Thursday VigilantHalo is a software-driven tool that features integrated data processing, fusion tracker and communications system for air traffic control, BVLOS and counter-UAS activities as well as air and missile defense.

Tools that detect content generated by artificial intelligence should first be tested by faculty and students before being deployed, according to Tim Boltz, education and market program executive at Carahsoft. Such tools and the generative AI technologies they are meant to police are still undergoing maturation, and a testing phase may be needed to help end users learn how to use them or decide whether to use them at all, Boltz said in a column posted on the Carahsoft website on Wednesday, where he tackled the themes and issues discussed at the latest EdTech Talks Summit.

Ball Aerospace has delivered to Vandenberg Space Force Base the MethaneSAT satellite which, once in orbit, will work to identify global sources of methane -- a major contributor to climate warming -- with the help of its two advanced spectrometers. Ball Aerospace said Wednesday that MethaneSAT's instruments will make it possible to track methane emissions at a regional level as well as at the level of individual sources, complementing current capabilities that focus on either scale or precision.
