Raytheon, a subsidiary of RTX, has concluded the thermal vacuum testing of the final Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite instrument that will be used on the Joint Polar Satellite System of NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The company said Monday the fourth VIIRS instrument has proceeded to environmental testing after undergoing thermal vacuum tests in late 2023 and ahead of its integration into the JPSS environmental satellite system this year.

RTX subsidiary Raytheon has received a potential two-year, $287 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to provide recertification and modernization support for 166 Tomahawk Block IV all-up-round missiles. The modification also includes missile obsolescence and health monitoring, depot support, software maintenance and related hardware procurement services, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awarded contracts to Leidos and Raytheon BBN, an RTX company, for services related to the Quantum Augmented Network program. The cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts, valued at $8.5 million for Leidos and $7.5 million for BBN, is for the development of a hybrid quantum-based communication network specifically for critical infrastructure security, the Department of Defense said Friday.

RTX's Raytheon business, in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, demonstrated the ability of its new GhostEye MR radar to support air defense operations during an extended exercise at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The Raytheon-built radar technology was integrated into the command and control element of the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System, expanding the missile system's capabilities against cruise missile and drone threats, RTX said Wednesday.

Raytheon, an RTX company, has secured a three-year, $31.3 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division to design, build and test two directed energy weapon prototype systems for the U.S. Navy and Air Force. The company said Tuesday it will deliver high-power microwave antenna systems that will use directed energy to enable the detection of airborne threats as part of the Directed Energy Front-line Electromagnetic Neutralization and Defeat program.

RTX has secured a potential five-year, $20.8 million contract to build and demonstrate two wideband passive sensor systems for the U.S. Navy's Birdseye Yonder effort. The Office of Naval Research solicited bids for the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract under a long range broad agency announcement and will obligate funds in the Navy's fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation budget, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Raytheon, an RTX business, will produce high-power-density gallium nitride transistors to enhance the electronic capability of radio frequency sensors under a four-year, $15 million contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. RTX said Thursday it will integrate military-grade GaN transistors into radar systems to increase range and radar resource management capabilities as part of DARPA's Technologies for Heat Removal in Electronics at the Device Scale program.
