RTX subsidiary Raytheon has received a potential two-year, $287 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to provide recertification and modernization support for 166 Tomahawk Block IV all-up-round missiles. The modification also includes missile obsolescence and health monitoring, depot support, software maintenance and related hardware procurement services, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

General Dynamics' electric boat subsidiary has christened PCU Idaho, the U.S. Navy's 26th Virginia-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine, which is designed to support anti-submarine and surface ship warfare and special operations. Terry Stackley, the ship sponsor, performed the bottle break that christened the vessel, which is the first Navy submarine to be named after the state of Idaho, General Dynamics Electric Boat said in a LinkedIn post published Sunday.

QED Systems has secured a potential five-year, $383 million contract to provide specification development and availability execution support services in support of the U.S. Navy's ship maintenance efforts. The company will support the maintenance of the Navy's guided-missile destroyers and cruisers, landing platform dock, dock landing ships, landing helicopter assault, amphibious assault ships and littoral combat ships, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The U.S. Navy has awarded eight companies positions on a potential $226.2 million contract for the maintenance, repair and alteration of surface ships and U.S. government waterborne vessels homeported in the state of Hawaii. The multiple-award Surface Vessel Maintenance indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a five-year base ordering period and an optional term of five years and covers the procurement of any materials in support of maintenance and repair work, according to an award notice published Friday on SAM.gov.

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division started topside testing of the electromagnetic aircraft launch system on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier. EMALS is designed to replace the steam catapults on the U.S. Navy's Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, can operate at a speed of more than 150 miles per hour and works to provide expanded operational capability, more accurate end-speed control and higher launch-energy capacity, HII said Wednesday.

The Department of Defense said Thursday GA-ASI will provide engineering, logistics support, capability development and sustainment services in support of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Unmanned Aircraft System Expeditionary/Medium Altitude Long Endurance MQ-9A.
