Tony Frazier, former executive vice president and general manager of public sector earth intelligence at Maxar Technologies, has joined LeoLabs as CEO, succeeding company co-founder Dan Ceperley, who is transitioning to chief operating officer position. Frazier will be responsible for leading LeoLabs as it works to provide U.S. and global customers with integrated products and services enabling space safety and security, the company said Monday.

LeoLabs raised $29 million in a recent funding round that saw the participation of existing investors like Insight Partners, Velvet Sea Ventures and Space Capital, and the involvement of new ones like GP Bullhound, an investment banking company. LeoLabs said Monday that it provides space operators with insights concerning space safety, security and sustainability based on data collected by the company's proliferated radar network and processed by artificial intelligence algorithms, which will benefit from the latest investment.

The U.S. Space Systems Command has chosen LeoLabs to join its Space Domain Awareness Tools Applications and Processing Lab, or TAP Lab, Apollo Accelerator program. Throughout the initiative’s three-month period, LeoLabs will be given scenarios focused on threat warning and assessment, allowing the company to evaluate and modify its space domain awareness-focused products, the organization announced from Menlo Park, California on Tuesday.
