A potential foreign military sale of Basler BT-67 aircraft to the government of Argentina has been approved by the U.S. Department of State. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday that the FMS has an estimated cost of $143 million and includes the aircraft themselves, various parts, technical documentation, training equipment and logistics and program support, such as personnel training, technical and engineering services and transportation.

SRC, a not-for-profit research and development company, has received a seven-year, $60 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide R&D services for avionics development. Lockheed Martin has secured a seven-year, $71.3 million contract from the U.S. Navy to deliver performance-based logistics for the Consolidated Automated Support System family of testers that supports naval aviation systems at the intermediate maintenance level. Additionally, the Department of Defense said Thursday the contractor will offer repair services for the Navy, Marine Corps and foreign military sales customers.

Aurora Flight Sciences, Bell Textron, Northrop Grumman and Piasecki Aircraft Corp. have begun designing prototypes of an experimental military aircraft capable of vertical take-off and landing under a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency initiative. DARPA expects one of the contractors to finish designing, prototyping, building and demonstrating the VTOL aircraft by spring of 2027 as part of the Speed and Runway Independent Technologies program.

The State Department has approved the Japanese government's request to purchase advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles manufactured by RTX from the U.S. government under a potential $224 million foreign military sale agreement. RTX will serve as the principal contractor on the potential FMS deal that covers the procurement of 120 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM and three AMRAAM C8 guidance sections, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.
