The Defense Innovation Unit has begun seeking proposals from industry sources capable of developing a hybrid architecture designed to integrate government and commercial networks to enable space-based communication capabilities. DIU said the second iteration of the Hybrid Space Architecture project will focus on four areas of interest: persistent sensing, resilient data transport, high-performance edge computing and data fusion.

Leidos will develop four Medium Range Air Defense Radar prototype systems under a two-year, $32 million contract awarded by the Marine Corps System Command through the Consortium Management Group. As lead of the new effort, Dynetics Group will utilize its sensor development knowledge gained from previous programs, such as the Marine Expeditionary Long Range Persistent Sensor initiative.

Four companies have secured other transaction authority agreements from Space Systems Command to develop ground-based command and control system prototypes to support missile warning satellites. Ball Aerospace, Parsons, General Dynamics and Omni Federal each received a 16-month, $9.75 million Phase 1 contract for the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution Command and Control prototype project, the National Security Technology Accelerator announced Wednesday.

Northrop Grumman and L3Harris Technologies completed a critical design review of a relay ground station for missile warning and tracking, which will be used by the U.S. Space Systems Command in the Pacific. Northrop said Thursday that it is developing Relay Ground Station-Asia under a contract with the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, which plans to replace its missile warning system by 2025.

The research and development center of Lockheed Martin's space business unit has secured a contract from Space Systems Command to develop data exploitation technology for the U.S. Space Force's missile warning satellite constellation. Lockheed's Advanced Technology Center will build typing and characterization algorithms to help SSC's Tools Applications Processing Lab analyze and interpret incoming data from the next-generation Overhead Persistent Infrared sensors that track ballistic and hypersonic missile threats.
