Leidos will develop four Medium Range Air Defense Radar prototype systems under a two-year, $32 million contract awarded by the Marine Corps System Command through the Consortium Management Group.

As lead of the new effort, Dynetics Group will utilize its sensor development knowledge gained from previous programs, such as the Marine Expeditionary Long Range Persistent Sensor initiative, and from live demonstration feedback, Leidos said Monday.

The team will perform the majority of contract work in Huntsville, Alabama, and some in Arlington, Virginia, with the delivery of MRADR systems scheduled for 2025.

Commenting on the contract win, Larry Barisciano, weapons technology operations manager for Leidos’ Dynetics Group, attributed the work’s transition to “a true program of record” to the company’s research and development process.

“We’re excited to begin developing, producing and deploying these sensors for our nation’s Marines,” he added.
