Lockheed Martin will collaborate with Intel and its newly launched standalone business Altera to build a sensor open systems architecture-based airborne electronic defense platform for the U.S. Navy's MH-60R multi-mission helicopter to support a program of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. General Atomics' aeronautical systems business will provide technical services for the U.S. Army's MQ-1C Gray Eagle aircraft under a $561.5 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. General Dynamics' electric boat subsidiary has christened PCU Idaho, the U.S. Navy's 26th Virginia-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine, which is designed to support anti-submarine and surface ship warfare and special operations. Terry Stackley, the ship sponsor, performed the bottle break that christened the vessel, which is the first Navy submarine to be named after the state of Idaho, General Dynamics Electric Boat said in a LinkedIn post published Sunday.

Esri has secured a two-year, $56.2 million task order to continue helping the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency provide foundational geospatial intelligence services to users worldwide. Incubation firm Red Cell Partners is providing cybersecurity technology developer Eyris $3 million in pre-seed funding meant to allow the company to start a Department of Defense pilot program and offer services to other federal agencies. GE Aerospace intends to invest $650 million this year to upgrade its manufacturing facilities and strengthen its supply chain. The General Electric operating unit said Tuesday that, of that total, $450 million will be allocated for the enhancement of 22 facilities across the U.S., an effort that includes the acquisition of additive manufacturing equipment and other machines and tools that will be used to assemble, test and produce engines for military and commercial aircraft.
