Sidus Space has secured a Tier 1 remote sensing license from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, authorizing the space and data-as-a-service company to have panchromatic and shortwave infrared imaging capabilities. LizzieSat and subsequent iteration of the satellite are covered by the NOAA license and will be used to provide government and commercial customers with images and data services, the company said Wednesday.

RENK Systems, an Indiana-based industrial test systems developer, has won a $49 million contract to develop three test stands for the CH-53K King Stallion helicopters of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The Department of Defense said Friday the company will work through November 2025 to conduct testing on various gearbox assemblies and deliver corresponding logistics, calibration, maintenance and sustainment support.

Collaboration software developer Mattermost is teaming up with Mobius Logic to create an artificial intelligence-enhanced hub for development, security and operations and other mission-critical functions. Mattermost said Tuesday that the collaboration hub will utilize its OpenOps AI platform, which will be linked to Microsoft suites including AI Services, Azure, Teams and Entra ID.

Robert Geckle Jr., CEO of Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, said during the 2023 Global Aerospace Summit on Sept. 16 that his company is investing in its manufacturing capability in the United States to address the demand for low-Earth orbit satellites brought on by the Space Development Agency's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture constellation program.
