The Social Security Administration has issued a solicitation for a potential five-year contract for information technology services to modernize an insurance program for the elderly, people with disabilities, blind and disadvantaged children, Bloomberg Government reported Thursday.
The Enterprise Small Business IT Support Services contract covers task areas in support of the Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance program.
Those task areas are software engineering, systems security and management support; infrastructure, telecommunications environment and help desk support; database and data administration; lifecycle activities and DevOps, according to the statement of work.
The ESBITSS indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is a set-aside program for small contractors and has a one-year base term and four option years with a six-month option to extend services.
SSA advances IT modernization as part of its Vision 2025 program. The agency also anticipates a rise in business functions in the next 10 years as approximately 70M baby boomers approach retirement.
Responses to the request for proposals are due Nov. 13, according to a FedBizOpps notice.
