Red Hat will hold its annual symposium Nov. 2 in Arlington, Virginia to highlight the role of open source technology in digital transformation efforts across the government sector.
The company said Wednesday it expects the 2016 Red Hat Government Symposium to draw more than 650 government and industry professionals to help address information technology challenges that public sector agencies face.
Paul Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Red Hat’s U.S. public sector business, said that agencies explore open source tools to comply with mandates such as the Office of Management and Budget‘s Federal Source Code policy.
Smith added the upcoming event aims “to help advance the conversation about how to bring modern, agile and cloud-native solutions and methodologies to the government.”
Representatives from the departments of Agriculture, Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs as well as the National Reconnaissance Office, Social Security Administration and the U.S. Courts will speak at the symposium.
Tim Yeaton, senior vice president of Red Hat’s infrastructure business group, will deliver the keynote remarks.
The event will also feature breakout sessions, demonstrations and panel discussions on topics such as open source development, security, automation and integration, hybrid cloud and mobility.
