General Atomics has announced its electromagnetic systems business will showcase a new spacecraft model designed to host technology payloads for demonstration.
The company said Wednesday GA-EMS will exhibit the Orbital Test Bed along with other satellite and space system offerings at the 34th Space Symposium scheduled to take place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from April 15 to 19.
“Our satellites and payloads support defense, telecommunications, navigation, earth observation, technology demonstration and academic missions,†said Nick Bucci, vice president of missile defense and space systems at GA-EMS.
OTB is based on a satellite payload hosting platform that works to help clients evaluate technologies in space.
Final preflight tests are underway for the OTB mission slated to launch with the U.S. Air Force’s Space Technology Program flight on SpaceX‘s Falcon Heavy rocket.
The spacecraft will host NASA‘s Deep Space Atomic Clock designed to support deep-space navigation and exploration, General Atomics noted.
