The Professional Services Council has asked the House and Senate to approve a full-year appropriations legislation prior to adjournment in order to fund all operations within the federal government for fiscal year 2017.
David Berteau, president and CEO of PSC, wrote in a letter published Monday that Congress should not pass a continuing resolution, PSC said Monday.
“Extending the current CR would undermine critical government missions and functions and the accompanying contractor support on which those missions depend,†Berteau wrote.
“In addition, a CR fails to match funds with requirements across the government and especially in the Defense Department,†he added.
PSC also urged both chambers of Congress to approve the FY17 National Defense Authorization Act and other bipartisan bills that include the Modernizing Government Technology Act of 2016 before the end of the legislative session.
The PSC letter was addressed to eight lawmakers that include Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky); Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada); House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin); and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-California).
