Esri has pledged $500,000 to a White House initiative that seeks to exclude low-risk offenders from the criminal justice system with the use of technology platforms.
The company said Thursday it seeks to help law enforcement officials to identify rehabilitation programs available to non-dangerous offenders through the ArcGIS geographic information system software.
“Using ArcGIS, law enforcement, health departments and policymakers can securely share data to create better solutions,†said Jeff Peters, director of national government programs at Esri.
The tool is designed to run on Amazon Web Services‘ cloud platform, according to the company.
Esri’s participants at a White House event described how parole and probation officials could use predictive analytics and visualization tools to “manage at-risk offender populations, identify key indicators of recidivism, and keep our communities more resilient.â€
