Neel Mehta
David Walker serves as senior strategic adviser for the public sector practice at PwC’s U.S. arm.
In this capacity, the 40-year audit industry veteran offers advice to senior government officials and PwC executives on public sector and financial restructuring issues.
Before he joined PwC in 2015, Walker served as the seventh U.S. Comptroller General and head of the Government Accountability Office for nearly a decade.
He is also former president and CEO of the Comeback America Initiative and Peter G. Peterson Foundation – nonprofit organizations that seek to promote fiscal responsibility in the government sector.
Walker worked for more than nine years at accounting firm Arthur Andersen, where he served as partner and global managing director of the human capital services practice.
He currently serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Government Transformation Initiative, board member of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget and a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
Walker also chaired the Independent Audit Advisory Committee for the United Nations between 2007 and 2011 and led the strategic planning task force for the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions.
