Norway’s national post and logistics service has selected digital security company Gemalto to provide a verification tool for the agency to check customer credentials.
Gemalto said Thursday it will supply its Coesys ID Verification technology to Posten Norge in order to verify identity cards and passports for the country’s financial services sector in compliance with the European Union’s Anti-Money Laundering Directive.
Posten Norge will deploy the system in 1100 branches during the initial phase and in the entire national branch network later.
Branch personnel will use a specialized passport and ID card scanner to check documents against Gemalto’s database of worldwide passports and identity documents for discrepancies, the company noted.
The agency intends for the Coesys ID Verification platform to authenticate letters and parcels as well as aid in the agency’s efforts to help financial institutions confirm the identity of customers.
