Red Hat has named NEC Corp. of America as a cloud platform and services provider after the latter company completed certification and testing requirements for enterprise cloud deployments.
NEC will use managed, multi-tenant models to offer its portfolio of private cloud and platform-as-a-service offerings to government agencies through Red Hat’s Certified Cloud and Service Provider program, NEC said Monday.
“This collaboration is designed to help our public sector clients accelerate the adoption of cloud delivery, meeting the mandate for cloud first deployments,†said Paul Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Red Hat’s public sector business in North America.
NEC builds cloud platforms based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenStack Platform and other open-source software.
“We are excited to become a Red Hat certified cloud and service provider and to work with Carahsoft, a Red Hat government distributor, to deliver private cloud environments for demanding federal use cases, including compliance with various mandates,†said Hide Senta, vice president of strategy and planning at NEC.
NEC said it will also offer its Red Hat-certified cloud platforms and services through Iron Mountain‘s Data Center Marketplace.
