The Department of Homeland Security will host Industry Day events on Wednesday in Washington and Aug. 2 in Menlo Park, California, to discuss a request for information on technical platforms and best practices designed to address threats to government mobile devices.
The cybersecurity division under DHS’ science and technology directorate will use the responses from the RFI to submit a report on the security of federal mobile devices to Congress in compliance with the Cybersecurity Act of 2015, DHS said Monday.
Reginald Brothers, undersecretary for science and technology at DHS, said the report aims to assist in the development of security platforms that work to protect government mobile devices from potential threats.
DHS said it expects to submit the report to Congress in December.
The General Services Administration issued the RFI on behalf of DHS S&T directorate’s CSD division and set Aug. 22 as the deadline for responses.
