A new study released by Cisco says commercial enterprises need to implement new tools in order to reduce the time spent on detecting cyber attacks and other network vulnerabilities.
Cisco said Tuesday its 2015 Midyear Security Report cited the Angler Exploit Kit and Adobe Flash Player as some of the common threats to corporate networks.
According to the report, Angler uses a domain shadowing technique to escape detection.
The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure platform also reported a 66 percent rise in vulnerabilities linked to Adobe Flash Player during the first half of 2015 driven by the lack of automated patching, Cisco said.
Hackers are also using Ransomware and Dridex malware campaigns that are capable to evade detection, according to the report.
The stud suggested the creation of a multi-stakeholder governance framework to help manage emerging cyber threats on a global scale and urged corporate organizations to demand transparency among technology vendors.
“The question of ‘what do you do when you are compromised’ highlights the need for organizations to invest in integrated technologies that work in concert to reduce time to detection and remediation to a matter of hours,†said Jason Brvenik, principal engineer of security business group at Cisco.
“And then they should demand their vendors help them to reduce this metric to minutes,” Brvenik added.
