DRS Technologies and Lithiumstart have partnered to combine their respective technologies in a move to pursue business opportunities with military and commercial energy storage applications.
DRS will integrate its power electronic modules into Lithiumstart’s ESS technology to develop an energy storage module, DRSÂ said Tuesday.
Vince Stammetti, vice president and general manager at DRS’ power and control technologies, said the companies intend for the combined offering to supply power applications in the U.S. Navy and commercial maritime markets.
The technology is intended to help provide backup power and fuel efficient operations for naval surface combatant ships.
The Navy also uses the DRS PEM technology on its platforms and programs.
