General Dynamics‘ UK arm has awarded two five-year subcontracts to Exelis for engineering and logistics work on very high frequency, ultra high frequency and tactical radios for the British defense ministry.
Exelis has worked on the General Dynamics-led Bowman program in the UK for more than a decade and will also replace and repair radios currently in use, Exelis said Thursday.
Chris Reith,  managing director of Exelis Defence Ltd., said his company will work to “ensure that the MoD’s current tactical radio fleet is fully supported through the transition to the next generation of modern tactical radios for U.K. forces.”
One contract covers post-engineering design services on UHF and VHF radios that Exelis manufactured for the Bowman team.
The second contract is for logistics, supply and support work on current tactical radios.
