L3Harris Technologies has received a $60.48 million contract modification to continue its services for the U.S. Navy’s medium unmanned surface vehicle program aimed at supporting electronic warfare, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
The Camden, New Jersey-based company will provide engineering and technical support for the MUSVs under the contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command, the Department of Defense said Friday.
In July 2020, the contractor secured a $281.4 million award from the Navy to design and build the vehicles intended to work as a pier-launch, open-architecture autonomous platform.
The DOD said the service will obligate $1.67 million upon the awarding of the cost-plus-fixed-fee modification contract. Majority of the work will occur in Morgan City, Louisiana, through December 2022.
Other locations include Virginia, Ohio and the cities of Jeanerette, New Orleans and Lafayette in Louisiana.
