General Dynamics has introduced a cryptographic module the company designed to secure communications on space and avionics systems.
The KOV-28 Open Systems Architecture technology is designed to integrate with rugged military platforms such as Mode 5 friend or foe identification, data links, navigation and satellite communications equipment, General Dynamics said Wednesday.
Module features include a compact 3U form factor deisgn, a DS-101 asynchronous serial protocol, VPX high-speed connectors and a dual Gigabit Ethernet and Intelligent Platform Management Interface system control technology.
Brian Morrison, vice president of cyber systems at General Dynamics' mission systems business, said the company aims to bring trusted communications to the military with the company's Type 1 encryption offering.
The National Security Agency certified the KOV-28 OSA module.
