The U.S. Defense Digital Service is seeking vendors that could provide a new partially automated and cloud-based prototype system for security clearance processes.
DDS issued its request for white papers on Tuesday following the confirmation that the Department of Defense will take over responsibility for the federal government’s security clearance functions.
The agency aims to acquire a system that will support subject information collection, background investigation and recording an adjudication decision. DDS intends to use an other transaction authority for the program.
“This prototype will require integration with a wide variety of U.S. government and commercial databases to verify the subject’s identity and background information,†DDS said in the solicitation.
It added the development of the prototype should be rapid and agile, with the contractor delivering new functionality to users for feedback every two weeks.
Interested parties can submit responses to DDS through March 26 and questions are due on March 19.
On Friday, the Pentagon announced that the director of the Defense Security Service will assume the responsibility for the Defense Information Systems Agency’s National Background Investigation Service.
