Leidos has received a potential five-year, $15.2M cost-reimbursement U.S. Air Force contract to support research, development and demonstration efforts for a high-energy combinable fiber laser.
The company will work to help the service branch develop and deliver new airborne laser weapon technologies, the Defense Department said Thursday.
The Air Force will initially obligate $1M in fiscal 2018 funds allotted for research, development, test and evaluation.
Work will take place at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. through Aug. 22, 2023.
The Air Force Research Laboratory sourced the award competitively and received two proposals.
