Science Applications International Corp. has signed a multiyear lease deal with CyrusOne to move one of its data centers to the latter’s data center location in Northern Virginia by the first six months of 2019.
“During the past seven years, CyrusOne and SAIC have developed a strong relationship that will continue to grow with our new long-term lease agreement,†Bob Fecteau, chief information officer at SAIC, said in a statement published Thursday.
Fecteau added the move to broaden the geographical distance between SAIC’s data centers seeks to reduce risk and build up business continuity.
The lease agreement supports SAIC’s goal to widen the distance between its primary and secondary data centers by at least 150 miles.
Fecteau said SAIC established a software-defined data center as part of its data center consolidation effort.
SAIC is one of the 10 firms to secure a design certification from VMware for its SDDC architecture.
