Navy Eyes RFP for NGEN Recompete Contract’s Services Portion by End of July - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Navy has announced plans to release on or around July 31 a request for proposals for the service management, integration and transport portion of the Next Generation Enterprise Network Recompete contract.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday says the service’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command intends to accept proposals by Oct. 1 for the NGEN-R contract’s SMIT that has four work segments: service operations; operating model; transport and productivity; and service integration.

SPAWAR considers awarding a single-award, indefinite-quantity/indefinite-delivery contract with a five-year base term and three option years for the services category.

NGEN-R is the follow-on program to NGEN and seeks to deliver information technology platforms and services to users of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet, Marine Corps Enterprise Network and those outside of the continental U.S. through the OCONUS Navy Enterprise Network or ONE-Net.

The Navy said in a September 2017 news release that it would award the SMIT contract in December and the end-user hardware contract a month earlier.

Leidos teamed up with IBM, Unisys and Verizon’s enterprise solutions arm in February to compete for the SMIT segment.

DXC Technology’s former public sector business, which now operates as part of Perspecta, tapped AT&T in February as a partner to pursue the NGEN-R contract’s IT services category.
