The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity has announced the winners of a competition that sought automated methods to recognize and collect fingerprints.
The Nail to Nail Fingerprint Challenge began in February last year and gathered participants from around the globe to develop capture technologies with a biometric recognition capacity, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said Monday.
IARPA evaluated the performance of proposed systems using data from multiple tests that have collected more than 48,000 latent and live fingerprints from human subjects.
Winners were invited to exhibit their entries at a two-day workshop in Washington, D.C., and have agreed to share collected fingerprint data to support IARPA and National Institute of Standards and Technology research efforts.
