Jim Ballard serves as president of the federal services group at Preferred Systems Solutions, a company he joined after the firm’s August 2014 acquisition of Global Services & Solutions.
Prior to GSS, Ballard served as chief operating officer subsequently president at Perot Systems Government Services, where he was responsible for that unit’s growth strategy, daily operations and business development functions.
According to PSS, that unit grew from $57 million to $650 million in annual revenue through both organic growth and three acquisitions during his tenure there.
Ballard is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as an engineering duty officer for submarines and also held command roles at shipyards, the Naval Sea Systems Command and the program executive office for submarines.
Ballard holds both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute respectively.
He is also a graduate of executive development programs at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and the Harvard Business School.
