The Department of Homeland Security has issued a request for information on technology platforms that first responders can demonstrate through an event in Houston, Texas, later this year.
DHS said Thursday it seeks various technologies such as sensors, data analytics tools and computer-aided dispatch systems for test and evaluation during the Next Generation First Responder – Harris County Operational Experimentation.
OpEx is scheduled to occur at Port of Houston from Dec. 3 to 7.
The department’s science and technology directorate will evaluate platforms that have reached at least Technology Readiness Level 6 and are designed to help increase the safety and situational awareness of first responders that include U.S. Coast Guard personnel.
Interested parties from the government, industry and academia may submit applications by March 30.
DHS noted that the government will look to enter into “limited purpose” cooperative research-and-development agreements with OpEx participants.
