Axiomatics‘ federal subsidiary has projected that DevOps, information dissemination and data monitoring initiatives are among the information technology-related areas that will dominate federal security practices in 2018.
The DevOps methodology — an integration of software development and operations — will see increased implementation across large federal agencies that are used to creating their own software, Axiomatics Federal said Tuesday.
Security concerns and the Risk Management Framework are driving the wider use of DevOps, the company noted.
Axiomatics Federal also predicts that data sharing efforts between agencies will drive efforts to data control access while big data systems will present management and security challenges as technology becomes more complex and distributed.
Agencies also look to mitigate breaches through the expansion of data monitoring initiatives.
“As the data explosion continues to have its effect on federal agencies, being able to manage and specify properly who should have access to data is a major priority,” said Craig Gilley, president of Axiomatics Federal.
Gilley added that agencies should implement an “attribute-based access control” approach to manage actionable intelligence.
Axiomatics Federal noted that ABAC systems work to evaluate the context of access control requests to differentiate shareable data from sensitive information.
