Lockheed Martin has agreed to involve Poland’s state-owned defense organization Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa in various defense and security programs as part of Lockheed’s commitment to Polish industry.
The two parties inked a letter of intent to allow PGZ member companies to participate in Lockheed programs on satellite systems, aircraft, helicopters, weapons, combat systems, training devices and simulators, the U.S. company said Wednesday.
“Lockheed Martin has customers in more than 70 countries worldwide and is pursuing a strategy of international business growth which presents significant opportunities for PGZ,” said Jonathan Hoyle, Lockheed vice president for Europe and Latin America.
Hoyle signed the agreement with PGZ President Arkadiusz Siwko at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce, Poland.
The LoI follows a recent agreement inked between Lockheed’s PZL Mielec subsidiary and PGZ at the Farnborough International Air Show in July for collaboration in the program for NATO’s Medium Extended Air Defense System.
Lockheed and PGZ will also work to evaluate a Black Hawk maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Poland and support increased involvement of PGZ member firms in the supply of weapons, components and assemblies for Mielec-made products.
PGZ is one of the largest armaments holdings in Europe and consists of more than 60 companies in the defense, shipbuilding and new technologies industries in Poland.
