Ensco and PositiveID will collaborate to produce a biothreat detection system for the Department of Homeland Security under the second phase of DHS’ SenseNet Program.
PositiveID said Monday it will provide the company’s Firefly Dx automated threat detector while Ensco will perform system integration and decision support services under the program.
The Interior Department awarded the Phase II contract to the team on behalf of DHS.
William Caragol, PositiveID chairman and CEO, said the follow-on award will allow the companies to integrate their technology and engineering expertise to support national warning and decision systems.
DHS introduced the SenseNet program with the goal to implement technologies that will work to increase the effectiveness and security of current systems against biothreats.
Ensco designed and simulated a two-tiered approach to respectively trigger and confirm an event with particle sensors and a polymerase chain reaction analyzer under the SenseNet program’s first phase.
