The U.S. Air Force has awarded contracts to North American Surveillance Systems and L-3 Communications valued at $40 million and $14.2 million, respectively, to provide services and updates to Cessna 208B aircraft.
The Defense Department said Monday the contract NASS landed requires the company to modify and integrate intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance features into the Cessna aircraft as well as provide training and field service representative support.
L-3 will perform program production of ISR components and spares under the terms of its contract, DoD added.
DoD further noted both contracts involve foreign military sales to Chad, Cameroon, Niger and the Philippines.
NASS will carry out contract requirements at Titusville, Florida, through by Sept. 30, 2019, while L-3 will perform contract work at Salt Lake City, Utah, until Sept. 30, 2017.
Cessna Caravan aircraft are designed to feature single-engine turboprop and support missions in rugged environments.
