The U.S. Navy has begun its search for industry sources of technology designed to detect unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices.
In a FedBizOpps notice published Monday, the military branch said its Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, Maryland is interested in detection systems that ordnance disposal personnel can stow in backpacks or cargo pockets.
NSWC seeks a detector that will employ a direct or digital radiography interface to perform real-time imaging of UXO and IED internal components.
Interested vendors should provide information about the portability, setup time, image manipulation, software compatibility, penetration and image file types of their technology offerings.
The Navy will accept input through May 5.
