Boeing‘s defense, space and security unit has been awarded an $18 million contract to integrate and install DO-160G Tri-band radomes and mounting rings on C-17Â Globemaster IIIÂ aircraft for the U.S. Army.
The Army Contracting Command awarded the firm-fixed-price contract with options through a solicitation with one response projected to be completed on Sept. 30, 2017, Defense Department said Friday.
The C-17 aircraft is a 174-foot cargo aircraft with a 170,900 pound maximum payload capacity and 450 knot approximate cruise speed designed for delivery of troops and cargo in operating bases, airdrop missions, litter transport, aeromedical evacuations and other related purposes.
Boeing is the primary contractor of the U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III units operated at March Air Reserve Base and Wright Patterson AFB.
The current budget plans increased the total amount of C-17 aircraft to be bought at 223 from the initially planned 120.
