cyberwarfareThe Air Force Research Laboratory is seeking ideas from vendors on how to integrate high-powered microwave technology into cyber and electronic warfare operations, Military & Aerospace Electronics reported Wednesday.

John Keller writes the U.S. Air Force plans to award up to $10 million in task order contracts for research, development, analysis and demonstration of High Power Electromagnetics Cyber and Electronic Warfare Application scenarios.

Previous efforts under the HPEM CEWA initiative have focused on directed energy-powered weapon systems, Keller noted.

The program’s new objective is to determine electromagnetic power density, pulse width, pulse repetition rate and backdoor coupling effect through cyber and EW experiments.

The lab will accept input for the program through Feb. 26 and will pick multiple vendors to demonstrate their concepts at Black Dart and Vigilant Hammer military exercises.
