Inmarsat has obtained a license from a United Arab Emirates-based telecommunications regulator to market the company’s mobile communication satellite service offering to the region’s public and private sectors.
The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunication Sector granted the public satellite service license to Inmarsat, the company said Wednesday.
A license signing ceremony occurred at the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Alison Horrocks, Inmarsat corporate secretary and executive vice president of corporate governance, and TRA Director General Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori were present at the event.
Horrocks said the company recognizes the Middle East as a growth market.
Inmarsat plans to offer mobile satcom services to government, maritime, aviation and media organizations and to support humanitarian assistance and emergency response missions of customers.
