Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson paid a visit to Huntington Ingalls Industries’ shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Thursday.
HII said Friday the company’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division provided Richardson updates on the four classes of military vessels that it currently constructs for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.
“This trip allowed me to meet with two key industry partners to better understand how they operate and where we can make improvements together,” Richardson said.
George Jones, Ingalls’ vice president of operations, and Richard Schenk, Ingalls’ VP of program management joined Richardson during the tour of the division’s John P. Murtha (LPD 26) amphibious transport dock and John Finn (DDG 113) guided missile destroyer.
“It is difficult to truly understand our capabilities to build complex warships without seeing the facility first-hand,” said Brian Cuccias, president of Ingalls Shipbuilding, noting the need for the site visit.
